At times, O Lord, I feel far from you,
Unable to really connect
I stumble and fall over and over
And your ways, I often forget

I wonder why you'd bother with me
When I often let you down
I feel as though it will never change
And my hope won't ever be found

The mysteries and wonders of your Word
That I once held in my heart,
Gave me such joy and peace of mind
When my life seemed awfully dark

O Lord, how I long to know again
The joy that I knew before,
To become again what I was back then
When I was enthused for you, Lord

I know the many reasons 'why',
But I don't know 'how' to change
Maybe, Lord, it's real faith I lack,
For things seem to stay the same

I keep going back to the old me,
I thought I had crucified,
But now and then when I've had enough,
It's like it comes back to life

O Lord, my God, I need your help
If I'm ever to move beyond
This barren and futile place I'm in,
For I need to be moving on

To the promise land of milk and honey
With your flowing rivers of life,
To have your fruit in abundance, Lord
And swim in the blessings of Christ

Lord, this is what I truly long for
And is what you long for me too,
For it's only by your transforming grace
Can I ever be renewed

So, Lord, as I come just as I am
Into your throne room of grace,
I ask that you will deliver me
From the struggles that I face

And as I lay each burden down,
Surrendering to you, Lord,
Your grace and mercy bring transformation
And hope in you is restored.
