| Devotional: A Sacrifice of Praise (Part 2)
Christian Devotion about praising God in spiritual warfare

 Through Him,
therefore, let us constantly and at all times offer up to God a sacrifice of praise, which is the fruit of lips
that thankfully acknowledge and confess and glorify His name. - Hebrews 13:15 (AMP)
 Another area where we can
offer a sacrifice of praise is in spiritual warfare. In those times of satanic attack or those times when Satan
whispers negativity and lies into our ears, when we lift up our praise and thanksgiving to the Lord, it silences
the enemy! We become strong in the Lord when we declare with our mouths who God is and all that He has done in
our lives, and to also declare who we are in Him—His beloved, redeemed child!I can testify of this in
my own life, how praising God in the midst of a satanic attack can silence the enemy. Many years ago, I went
through a season of full-on demonic attack—day and night. Torment and terror gripped me! In the beginning of the
attack, I believe God spoke to me through an old song, which went: "Put on the garment of praise for the spirit
of heaviness, lift up your voice to God. Praise with the Spirit and with understanding, Oh magnify the Lord" (Isaiah 61:3;
1 Corinthians 14:15).
But even though I thought about the song now and then, I wasn't really that intentional or persistent with doing
what these words said to do. But when I did start to praise God, even though I still didn't 'feel' like it, the
torment and terror began to lift. Satan's grip on me weakened and diminished as I continued to lift my voice in
praise to the Lord—and the torment and terror I experienced in that season never returned. This is what offering a
sacrifice of praise is all about and why we need to make this a daily habit. It silences the enemy, it weakens
his grip on us, it loosens the chains of bondage and uproots demonic strongholds—but we have to be habitual with
it, making it a daily practice in our lives. We need to lift up the name of Jesus in praise, thanksgiving and
worship, for God enthrones (or inhabits) the praises of His people.Even recently, when going
through a time of negative thoughts bombarding my mind, stealing my joy and peace, as I gave it over to God and
lifted up praise to Jesus, the negative thoughts soon went, and peace and joy returned. It does work! Why not choose this day,
and every day, to offer a sacrifice of praise to God no matter how you feel—especially in those times you're
under attack from the enemy? You simply do not have to live in bondage to Satan's lies and deceit—God invites you to
live in His peace and joy!© By M.S.Lowndes
