Devotional: The Wicked May Prosper - But Not For Long
Christian Women's Devotion about Delighting Ourselves in the Lord
"Fret not yourself because of
evildoers, neither be envious against
those who work
unrighteousness (that which is not upright or in
right
standing with God)." (V.1 AMPC).
We may look around and see
the wicked prospering and wonder 'Why'?
The many that go
against God's standards may mock and ridicule you
(V: 12).
They may have everything in the material and look down
on
you (V: 16). But they will meet their fate in the end. The
Lord
laughs at their wickedness, because He knows the day
will come
when they will be cast down and the righteous
will live forever.
What the Lord tells us to do is to
trust in Him, delight ourselves
in Him and commit our way to
Him. He will then bring it to pass and
give us the desires
of our hearts. God doesn't want us to focus
on what the
wicked are doing, or what they may have. But rather
to
focus on Him, and what He will do in our lives. We need
to
lean on Him, rely on Him and to commit everything to
Him.
He will make us as light shining forth (V:
16).
As verses 7-8 (AMPC) say, "Be still and rest in the Lord;
wait for Him and
patiently lean yourself upon Him; fret not
yourself because of him
who prospers in his way, because of
the man who brings wicked devices
to pass. Cease from anger
and forsake wrath; fret not yourself - it
tends only to
evildoing."
Let our hope be in the Lord. He will
vindicate us in the end. If you
are having a hard time
right now, give it over to the Lord. Continually
come to
Him and delight yourself in Him. Don't let anger get a hold—for the wicked 'know not what they're doing'. Trust in
God—He won't
let you down. He knows what's going on, and
He will have the last word!

Treasures of wickedness profit
nothing, but righteousness (moral and spiritual rectitude
in every area and relation) delivers from
death. - Proverbs 10: 2 (AMPC).
For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world [wealth, fame, success], but forfeits his soul? Or what will a man give in exchange for his soul? - Matthew 16:26 (AMPC).
The wicked may prosper in this
world, But it soon will come to an end The righteous
shall abide forever When the Lord comes to
avenge.
