Devotional: When We Suffer
Christian Women's Devotion on Our Response To Suffering
Job's life was
incredible. He was an upright, devout
and
godly man—yet he went through so
much
anguish. If it's not enough to lose his
hired hands,
his cattle and flock, his house
and also all his
children, he also was
physically afflicted and
considered an
outcast. Did he still believe? Did
he still
have hope?
We see in this last chapter of
Job, how God came
through and gave him a double portion of all that he had lost.
We too go through
seasons of turmoil and anguish.
Whether it be
in the loss of a loved one or inner
struggles
that try to choke us. Job lost all, yet
he
did not stop believing in God. Sure there
were
times when he was depressed—but he
held onto hope.
We can look at what we
are going through and feel
utterly
overwhelmed. We feel as though we may as
well
give up, because we lose hope of ever
seeing
the victorious outcome that we will
have as we
hold on to God.
This is a
natural response. And we often find
ourselves
questioning God. But in the midst of
it all,
we need to continue to daily reach out
to the
Lord. After all, He is the only one we
can
truly trust in, and be confident that He
will
see us through and will not let us
down.
Maybe you're going through a really
rough time
right now. Will you give it over
to the Lord?
Reach out again to Him. You
won't be disappointed.

Cast your burden on
the Lord [releasing the weight of it] and He
will sustain you; He will never allow
the
[consistently] righteous to be moved (made
to
slip, fall, or fail). - Psalm 55:22 (AMPC).
Lord, I feel so
burdened And feel so very lost, Come again
and touch me As I lay it before the
cross.
