Devotional: Our True Image–Part 1
Christian Women's Devotion on Body Image & Being Wonderfully Made
...I will give thanks and praise to You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Wonderful are Your works, And my soul knows it very well...(v.14)
God formed each of us in our mother's womb. Even there, He was moulding us and shaping us—creating a masterpiece. He created every part of us: from our facial features, hair colour, eye colour, skin colour to even our smile and laugh. He spent time on each little detail and thinks we are wonderful and beautiful, even if we don't feel beautiful when we look in the mirror. But how we see ourselves is not how God sees us. We all have things about ourselves that we don't like so much: our weight, height, figures etc…there's always something we would like to change or cover up. But God sees all of you and thinks you are beautiful! Those things you don't like about yourself, God thinks are beautiful. That is how God sees you and me. We are wonderfully and fearfully made, and we are His 'wonderful works'.
I like to think that as God was carefully forming us, He was thinking about our lives, the plans and purposes He has for us and our God-given destiny. Just imagine, before you ever took shape in your mother's womb, God's hand was upon you, shaping you like the potter with the clay and giving you the features that you have, just because He wanted to. And He saw your life—each recorded day! So, who are we to say, "I'm ugly"! That must cause God sadness, because He certainly doesn't see you that way. God's works are never 'ugly'.
If we really grasp this, it can change the way we view ourselves and our life's purpose. It can also change the way we view others.

Lord, I pray that I will see myself
The way that you see me,
Wonderfully created in your image,
With unique abilities.
