For in Him we live and move and exist [that is, in Him we actually have our being],
as even some of your own poets have said, 'For we also are His children'. - Acts 17:28 (AMP)
We live, move and have our
being in Jesus. Our existence is in Him—totally surrendered.
We were made for God, not for ourselves. We need the Holy Spirit to teach us this truth so that we will fully
grasp it in our minds and in our hearts. We need to ask the Holy Spirit to allow us to see our lives through God's
eyes—through the lens of eternity.
We so often get caught up in our own little world, living as if this life is the only existence that we will ever
have, causing us to seldom think of living for eternity. So much of our thinking is confined to our existence here,
on earth, in the temporal time frame of our lives, but as the Bible puts it, our lives are like a breath, a puff
of smoke, a wisp of vapour (James 4:14 AMPC),
(Psalm 39:5 AMP).
We need to remember that our lives are lived out for God as we walk according to the Spirit, not according to the
flesh, so that we can live out what He has called us to do.
I'm sure we can all relate to how easy it is to become preoccupied with the affairs of this world and be immersed
in the events of our lives. But the more we throw ourselves into the busyness of our lives, the more it consumes our
thinking—and the more we become worldly focused! So much of our lives seem to be all about 'us' and what we want
etc… Now, there's nothing wrong with having dreams and goals in life, but if God is not included, then maybe we need
to prayerfully reconsider 'our plans' and see what God wants for us.
We need to choose today, to stop living for our tangible, temporal existence and live with eternity in our hearts.
