Devotional: No Longer Hiding From God
Christian Women's Devotion on Jesus Reconiling us to the Father
And they heard the sound
of the Lord God walking in the garden in the cool of the day, and Adam and his wife hid themselves from the
presence of the Lord God among the trees of the garden. (v.8)
When Adam & Eve disobeyed
God and ate of the tree that was forbidden, it resulted in separation from their loving Creator. They previously
walked in sweet communion with God, but now that was severed. They also walked in complete purity and innocence
with each other until their eyes were opened to the realisation that they were naked. And because they felt
vulnerable and ashamed to be seen, they tried to cover their nakedness from each other.
This is how we can feel
as well—'emotionally'. We typically don't like being vulnerable with others—even those closest to us—so we try to
cover up the parts of our innermost being that we don't want others to see. We can also be this way with God—even
though He sees us and knows us in our entirety. God sees the parts of us where we feel awkward, ashamed and vulnerable,
but He loves us just the same. He wants us to know that He loves us so fully and completely with an everlasting
love, and when we truly know this, we have the freedom to be who we are with God—uninhibited, able to share our
deepest thoughts and struggles. We find that in being vulnerable before God, our deepest healings can take place
and deeper intimacy with God is realised.
It is through Christ's
sacrifice on the cross that He has brought us reconciliation with the Father. We, who have accepted Jesus as Lord
& Saviour, can live in sweet communion with God every day. Our relationship has been restored. We don't need to
continue 'hiding' from God because Jesus paved the way for us to come openly and boldly before Him—just as we are,
warts and all! He is our loving Father who will never reject us and who greatly desires an intimate and open
(honest & real) relationship with us every day. From the moment we wake up in the morning to the moment we close
our eyes at night to sleep, He longs to share our day, walking and talking with us.
If you don't know Jesus
as your Lord & Saviour and want to have this kind of relationship with Him, you may like to pray this prayer:
Jesus, I believe that you
died on the cross for my sins and that you rose again on the third day. I come before you today, surrendering my
self to you and ask you to forgive me of all my sins. I ask that you come into my life and fill me with your Holy
Spirit, so I can walk each day, from now on, with you. In Jesus' Name, I pray.

And so, brothers and sisters, we are completely free to enter the Most Holy Place. We can do this without fear
because of the blood sacrifice of Jesus. We enter through a new way that Jesus opened for us. It is a living way
that leads through the curtain—Christ's body. And we have a great priest who rules the house of God. Sprinkled
with the blood of Christ, our hearts have been made free from a guilty conscience, and our bodies have been washed
with pure water. So come near to God with a sincere heart, full of confidence because of our faith in Christ. - Hebrews 10:19-22 (ERV)
