Do not
[earnestly] remember the former things; neither consider the things of
old. Behold, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs forth; do you
not perceive and know it and will you not give heed to it? I will even
make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert. ~ Isaiah
43:18-19 (Amp)
I came to the Lord when I was 17 years old. My
sister gave me a bible study called
'5 steps to Christian Growth’, by
Bill Bright
(Campus Crusade). I wasn’t very interested
in it at
first, but one day I took it out of my
drawer and was flicking through
it when I
saw a diagram of a soldier (with reference
to the armour
of God). This got me interested
and I wondered what it all meant. So I
turned
to the beginning and started reading it. I
found myself glued
to the Bible and this
study. I came to a prayer to receive
the
infilling of the Holy Spirit. I
remember praying this prayer and
my
life began to dramatically change.
Prior to this I was very anti-Christianity,
and
had a problem with drinking and
rock music. I really hated church
and
Christianity. I remember asking Jesus
into my heart on occasions
before, but it
meant nothing to me because I had no
intention of
following Him. He was sort
of a tag on to my life — just in
case.
There are still issues that arise in my life, which God brings to the surface, so I may deal with them — as I'm still a work in progress!
But with God walking beside me we
can conquer those mountains — no matter how
overwhelming it may seem
to me.
