Devotional: Meditate on God's Word
Christian Devotion allowing God's Word to soak you
This Book of the Law shall not depart
from your mouth, but you shall read [and meditate on] it day and night, so that you may be careful to do [everything] in
accordance with all that is written in it; for then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will be successful.
- Joshua 1:8 (AMP)
It's important to not only 'read' God's
Word, but to meditate on it—day and night. If we know what God's Word says, we will be able to obey it more—we need to apply
God's Word to our every day situations: our interactions with others, our understanding of what is right and wrong in God's
eyes and our behaviour (character). By living according to God's Word, aligning our thinking to His truth, we will make our
way prosperous and successful. God's favour will be upon us, but we need to be careful not to sway to the left or right—but
walk with fixed purpose!
Our eyes must always be set on Jesus
and our hearts and minds must pursue Him and what is eternal. Instead of having a more 'earthly', temporal mindset, we must
develop an eternal mindset and live according to the Spirit.
We can only live this way by meditating
on God's Word and allowing His Word to 'soak' us. It's then that we begin to change—to be transformed. The Holy Spirit is at
work bringing God's Word to light—opening our eyes to see the wonderful truths in His Word.
Pour over God's Word, dive deep into it
and stay in the depth of God's Word—allowing the Holy Spirit to teach you, reveal His truth, guide you, renew your mind and revive
your soul! We grow and mature as we do so, and our experience with God deepens even more.
