Devotional: Living in Relationship with God
Christian Devotion about the outworking of our faith through relationship with God
We have confidence in the Lord concerning you, that you are doing and will continue to do the things [which] we
command. May the Lord direct your hearts into the love of God and into the steadfastness and patience of Christ. - 2 Thessalonians 3:4-5 (AMP)
As we walk in obedience to God, we will continue to do the things which please Him, because it will be our desire
to please Him in how we live. We will want to allow the Holy Spirit to teach us and lead us into truth and apply what we've learned in practical ways. We will choose to
stand firm in our faith and carry out the work God has given us. We will have a real hunger & thirst for more of God and as a result, be fully satisfied in Him.
Living a 'transformed life' means being continually transformed as we journey through life with God, and our faith is outworked through our obedience to God.
As we live in relationship with God, He directs our hearts into His love and into the steadfastness of Christ.
We can know that God is always leading us as we 'commune' with Him. Communication is often viewed as the number one important factor of any relationship. Sometimes it can make us feel vulnerable,
which may cause us to hold back. If we lack communication–real intimate communication–in our relationships,
the result can often be that the relationship grows cold and loveless. And this can be the same in our relationship with God. If we seldom pray or spend time with Him, our hearts can grow cold and
loveless towards Him to the point of forgetting Him in our everyday comings and goings altogether. This is why 'communing' with God throughout the day is so important. It builds us up and we become more and more aware
of His presence as well as more grateful and thankful for who He is and for life in general.
Jude 1:20 tells us: "But you, beloved, build yourselves up on [the foundation of] your most holy faith
[continually progress, rise like an edifice higher and higher], pray in the Holy Spirit, and keep yourselves in the love of God, waiting anxiously and looking forward to the mercy of our Lord
Jesus Christ [which will bring you] to eternal life". And this is through 'living in relationship with God'.
