Devotional: Come Back Home
Children's Devotion on the Prodigal Son Read: Luke 15:11-24 (NKJV) This story is a beautiful picture of how God greets us when we return to Him. We may have been in fellowship with God the Father, but then wandered off doing our own thing. Other things crept in and before too long, we've become 'too busy'. We take on way too much and our days become so filled up with other stuff that we don't have time for God. It's not wrong to do other things after school or in the weekends, but sometimes we can fill our lives with so many activities that it crowds God out. We may end up wandering away from God, or at least, not feeling as close anymore. Other people can pull us away from God as well. We want to hang out with a group of kids we think are cool, but who don't share our faith. We find we end up doing more things with them and spending less time with God. We end up losing something very precious–our relationship with Jesus. But He is there gently calling us back. It causes God great sadness when we walk away from Him. He longs for the day when we come running back to Him. For when we do, His arms will be outstretched ready to give us a great, big hug! © By M.S.Lowndes If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. — 1 John 1:9 (NKJV) Here is a prayer you may want to pray: Lord, I sometimes wander off with little time spent with you. Please help me to include you in my day without other things crowding you out. Thank you, Jesus, for always being there for me.
