Devotional: As The Spirit Increases, The Flesh Decreases
Christian Women's Devotion on Living in the Spirit
I just love this chapter. We can all
find
ourselves somewhere in this chapter.
In verses 1-3,
it reminds us that our minds need
to be focused more on what is
above. Storing up
treasures in Heaven. Our real life is in
Christ
Jesus—it is not in what we have here on earth.
There
is no eternal value in earthly things. As
we are clothed more
with the new spiritual self,
more of the flesh will die away. As
the things of the Spirit
increases our flesh decreases. We are made brand-new creations at the time of our 'spiritual birth' yet walking
that out in our everyday life doesn't happen overnight.
We need
to actively put off, or rid ourselves,
of the desires and works
of the flesh, and this
is a daily process. It's a daily dying to
self.
May we have a real desire
to be clothed with Jesus Christ—in every area of our lives.
We need to allow the nature of the Holy
Spirit to be in
control and to increase more in our lives.
By
doing this we will continually be transformed and progressively changed to live more according to
God's standards
rather than the world's
standards.

I appeal to you therefore, brethren, and
beg
of you in view of [all] the mercies of God,
to make a
decisive dedication of your bodies
[presenting all your members
and faculties]
as a living sacrifice, holy (devoted,
consecrated)
and well-pleasing to God, which is your
reasonable
(rational, intelligent) service and
spiritual
worship. Do not be conformed to this world
(this
age), [fashioned after and adapted to
its external, superficial
customs], but be
transformed (changed) by the [entire]
renewal
of your mind [by its new ideals and its new attitude],
so that you may prove [for yourselves]
what is the good and
acceptable and perfect will
of God, even the thing which is good
and acceptable
and perfect [in His sight for you]. - Romans 12:1-2 (AMPC)
Fill us with your Holy Spirit Afresh
today, O Lord, So we will be totally transformed From what we
were before.
